My Credentials

Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)

Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork is the highest voluntary credential a massage therapist can obtain within the profession—it is above and beyond entry level state licensure. By becoming Board Certified, I represent a community of therapists who have gone above standard educational and work experience requirements with a dedicated and lifelong commit to continuing education. Furthermore, I live up to higher standards and ethics in alignment with The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

To achieve my Board Certification, I provided proof of a minimum of 750 hours of education, 250 hours of professional, hands-on work experience, passed a criminal background check, agreed to uphold NCBTMB's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and passed the Board Certification Exam. By passing the BCTMB and meeting all requirements, I demonstrate advanced assessment and critical thinking skills, as well as a commitment to excellence. I wear the credentials BCTMB with pride for myself, my profession, and, most importantly, my clients.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle system of bodywork that uses a feather-light touch. Instead of being massaged, areas of the body are held. For instance, while you’re lying on your back, fully-clothed if you like,  the therapist places  fingers/palms where your neck meets your head and releases pent up tensions that may have been there for a lifetime.  It will feel wonderful. The therapist holds this position for as long as necessary to achieve the release of these tension watching for changes in your breathing and subtle feelings of movement.

The theory behind CranioSacral Therapy is that everything has a rhythm, including the cerebral-spinal fluid that gently pulses back and forth inside your spinal cord and brain. In essence, your brain floats in it and it rinses the metabolic waste from your central nervous system. Light touch and gentle holding at certain areas from your cranium to your sacrum helps this fluid to flow freely in a way it can’t when you’re tense or physically stressed. Because it’s related to your central nervous system, it affects virtually every part of your body. Its effectiveness has been noted at Johns Hopkins Hospital where it’s now used in their Integrative Medicine & Digestive Center. This type of bodywork is gentle enough for newborns and seniors.

CranioSacral Therapy is a healing practice that uses very light touch to balance the CranioSacral system in the body.   This includes, but is not limited to the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area.  This therapy is generally used in conjunction with massage, Myofascial release therapy and other holistic therapies.  It has been recommended for numerous ailments

headaches,

pain,

fibromyalgia,

heart issues,

osteoarthritis,

sinus infections,

IBS, chronic fatigue

syndrome,

depression,

Lymph Drainage

Lymph Drainage Therapist trained by the Bruno Chikly Institute

Tanga Cleeve has been practicing Lymph Drainage as part of services offered for over 10 years. It has been amazing in the benefits it brings to clients. Lymph Drainage can be done alone or in combination with CranioSacral Therapy and other massage Techniques.

Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is an original hands-on method of lymphatic drainage developed by Bruno Chikly, MD, of France. Created out of his award-winning research on the lymphatic system, LDT takes traditional lymph drainage techniques and adds a level of precision consistent with recent scientific discoveries.
Using exacting anatomical science and distinctive manual processes, LDT enables practitioners to detect the specific rhythm, direction, depth and quality of the lymph flow anywhere in the body. From there they can use their hands to perform Manual Lymphatic Mapping (MLM) of the vessels to assess overall circulation and determine the best alternate pathways for draining body-fluid stagnations.
Therapists work with flat hands, using all the fingers to simulate gentle, specific wave-like movements. These subtle manual maneuvers activate lymph and interstitial fluid circulation as well as stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. It is shown that when these actions are accomplished, the results can be:

Reduction in edemas (swelling) and lymphedemas of various origins

Detoxification of the body

Regeneration of tissue, including burns, wounds and wrinkles

Anti-aging effects

Relief of numerous chronic and subacute inflammations, including sinusitis, bronchitis and otitis

Relief of chronic pain

Reduction in the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia

Antispastic actions to relieve conditions such as muscle hypertonus and some forms of constipation

Deep relaxation to aid insomnia, stress, loss of vitality and loss of memory

Alleviation of adiposis and cellulite tissue
